Four days of eastward travel with late finishes typically produces elevated resting heart rate, reduced heart-rate variability, impaired glucose tolerance and a measurable decline in reaction time. None of this is dramatic in isolation. Repeated forty times a year, it accumulates.
Of everything a travelling executive can control, sleep timing produces the largest physiological return. An anchor window of five hours held constant across time zones, supported by deliberate light exposure in the morning and light avoidance in the evening, restores most of the deficit.
Hospitality can change how care feels. It should never change what care is.
Banquet dinners at 21:00 followed by a 06:00 flight place a heavy load on glucose regulation. Shifting the largest meal earlier, keeping alcohol below two units and protecting a twelve-hour overnight fast when possible are unglamorous interventions with reliable effects.
The half-day executive assessment exists because travelling professionals do not attend five separate appointments. Bloodwork, cardiac screening, imaging and a physician review compressed into four hours removes the most common excuse for a decade of postponed care.
